In stitches

I just felt like blogging about knitting. I guess I'm a knitter. It started with hats a few years ago, I actually never got very good at hats. They were always the wrong size or just not that cute. I was working without a pattern and I had now idea what doing, I just wanted to do it. I found that the repetitive nature of knitting was enjoyable for me, which is funny because I didn't learn earlier because I thought it would be too monotonous. But as it turns out I love it! After the hats I found a pattern in a Martha Stewart Magazine for Christmas stockings, it took several failed attempts to get it right, but now I love to make them. I made my own adjustments to the pattern and have made some that I really love (I will have to get a picture of Melissa and Michelle's.) I've been doing them as Christmas gifts each year for different family members. Ironically I have not made stockings for my own family, I bought our stockings before I learned how to knit. I think I might be out of family to make them for, I don't know what I will do with myself this year!

Recently I was reading a novel about a knitting shop, and found a pattern for a baby blanket in the front. It looked like something I could do so I gave it a go. It really is quit easy and if you are a knitter the pattern for this baby afghan is here . I did it in pink because to be honest, I am sick of boy colors. I figure people are always having babies and someone has to have a girl at some point, or I could always use it for me, I like pink. Now that I have finished it I am looking for my next knitting project. I think I will give a hand bag a try, we will see what I can find. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

Cabin

A beautiful weekend spent at the cabin. McKay & Holly came up with their kids. It was a peaceful weekend spent on the lake, or in the cabin playing games and eating food. Mitch managed to compete in a triathlon while we were there. The cabin is so beautiful. I have been going there my whole life and I am still blown away by the beauty of the area.

Daddy's Day

Started the day out with some crepesA break from the tradition of waffles, I know, but they were a big hit.
Gift time. Some Indiana Jones movies and this which I totally copied from a friend, Amber's is much cuter. I just loved the idea of the kids little legs in the Military bootsThen it was off to the Great Falls of the Missouri. Mitch had been here before but I hadn't. It was amazing. I thought the falls in town were big!

He is the kindest, most loving, caring and understanding man. I am lucky to be his wife. He is the best father anyone could ever want for their children and you see that everyday in the love Jackson & Asher have for their Daddy.

Nana's House

Last week the boys and I got the chance to go to "Ebraska" to see Nana, Papa and Homer. I had not been able to make it to my parents house since they moved there almost 2 years ago. All the Uncles were there (Uncles being Garrett, Connor & McCade.) We also had all six of the Child grandchildren, this has only happened one other time before and Nana & Papa weren't there. Missing were the husbands, Mitch, Matt and my brother Blake, they were unable to get off work with such short notice. My dad was made Bishop of his ward and we were so happy to be there for the occasion. We had such a good time with good food, fun people and a little painting project just for fun, (we painted my mom's dinning room.) Here are a few highlights.

They really wanted to be cute for us, but it was too bright to open their eyes, this is the best they could do

This was one of the real highlights. At the go-cart park they had cars that Jackson & Ryder could drive all by themselves. It was so funny, the people who worked there told them the rules and how to us the break and the gas but from the look of things they weren't really too clear on what the break was for and why they should ever use it. These boys are just too fun, I love it when they are together.
