Eight Months

I thought it would be a good idea to post Lily's eight month pictures before I take her nine month pictures in a week.

I decided to take advantage of the scenery in the Outer Banks for this photo shoot. My mom help me dress Lily for this shoot. I have decided to call her look "Beach whimsy chic" It's going to be all the rage just you wait.

I learned that there are some challenges to taking pictures of a baby on the beach. The biggest challenge is the sand. At one point she fell face first in the sand and I had to take her back to the house and clean her up. She was not happy about that at all. This is the first time (and maybe the only time) that I have done a larger than life headband. I have to admit I don't really know what to do with the contraption. You will notice that it looks different in almost every picture because we could not figure out how she should wear it.

I love my eight month old little girl. She is starting to move around and babble. And she has become very busy. She is always grabbing for something or has something that she wants and she is determined to get it. I think she grows more and more beautiful everyday and we all fall in love with her more and more everyday.

OBX, the final post (maybe)

The last day of our trip was all about the skim boarding. We all gave it a try, but I still have PTSD from my broken foot last summer so I took a seat and watched as my boys, yes Jackson and Asher, got pretty good at sliding across the beach.

I love this next picture because Asher was grooving on his boogie board and you can totally tell.

Can you tell that I was obsessed with pictures taken of people coming over this hill?

Love my surfer boys!

There was a toy store in town that let kids paint their own Thomas trains. This has Asher written all over it. He had so much fun and was very proud of his work.

Things to remember: Jackson loved learning about birds from Papa. My dad bought a bird book at the beginning of the trip and Jackson loved to look at it and find out the names of the birds flying around the beach and house. He loved the laughing gulls. He would feed them from our deck (I did not love this) and dance around crazy to try to make them laugh. My mom and Mitch were having a discusion about birds and they were trying to remember the word for an egg laying animal, to which Jackson chimed in, "They are oviparous" my kid is a genious!

Asher loved to bury himself in the sand and lie in it for hours. He would go and swim in the ocean for awhile, then go and lie down in the hot sand. One time he actually fell asleep. The kid was in heaven and as far as I am concerned the kid is heavenly!

Happy Father's day Dad, Happy Birthday Mom!

I love these pictures. I love these people. I am so blessed to have been raised and loved by Doug and Brenda Child.

My mom is famous for having her eyes closed in pictures, but in this case I think it makes for a beautiful picture.

There is a song called Old Love that our family knows from some CD compilation we would listen to on road trips. I have even forgotten who sings it but I had it in my head while I was editing these pictures. I guess I should quote the lyrics, but it just isn't as pretty with out the music. The first few lines of the Chourus are "We've got and old love/one we never will get tired of/one that fits us like and old glove."

My parents are proof that true love endures all things.

OBX, part 3

Another day on the beach. We spent the morning at Hatteras beach where Mitch did some surfing and the rest of us got in a little more bogey boarding. If you as the boys one of their favorite parts of the trip was going to "Howard" beach, that is what they call it.
The rest of the day was spent hanging out at our house and our beach. Have I mentioned how great it was to have a house right on the beach?

OBX, part 2

Here are some picture from our third day in NC. We had a wonderfully lazy beach day, complete with with boogy boarding, (buggy boarding if you talk to the boys) kite flying, and my favorite; a campfire on the beach.

OBX, part 1

I have close to 1000 pictures to go through from our amazing beach vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We had so much fun. It was just what we needed after a long winter with Mitch working long hours. We were also blessed to have my mom and dad come out and stay with us.

I only have a few pictures ready to post but I wanted to get them up right now. These pictures are only of the first two days.

The Sand dunes and the kites. We spent a lot of time here, but it wasn't enough. Seriously it was so much fun. We could have spent another full day playing in the sand.
We ended this perfect day with seafood at the Lone Cedar resturant. 8 years ago Mitch and I and two of our friends found this place and we have been craving it ever since. I was so happy to have found it again. Gotta love little things like that.

There will be so much more to come. There are 5 more days of pictures to post, so be warned.
