We had a great 4th of July weekend! It started on Thursday
Mitch had the day off, (it was a wing down day at the base, the official term.) We went to the Gates of the Mountains (as named by Meriwether Lewis) for a boat tour. It was so beautiful. It really does look like a gate on the Missouri River to the Rocky Mountains.

We spent the rest of the day at Holter Lake, it was beautiful and we had so much fun. We did some swimming and paddling around in our inflatable kayaks. Then we went to our campsite for some campfire food and some fishing on the river

The 4th started out as a sunny hot day. Mitch ran the Deerborn River with Jackson. They had a great time and said it was so beautiful, sorry, no pictures. I took Asher to a parade. He didn't like it very much so we left about 10 minutes into it. We did, however, get to see Miss Montana so it was totally worth it.
By the time we were ready to start our festivities it was raining, a lot. Like a full fledged thunder storm, so we moved the party indoors. This is Mitch performing his duties at the grill, I mean George Foreman Grill

My 4th of July Flag Cake. I was quit proud of this creation. We stuck a sparkler in the middle to add a little more to the festive atmosphere of our rained out holiday. In case you were wondering, a sparkler indoors is not the best idea, but no fires were started and we didn't set off the smoke detector.

All day Jackson was a firework. He would curl up in a tight ball and the say BOOM! As he jumped up and exploded. It was even more fun when he got Asher in on the act.
After dinner the rain cleared up enough that we could have our own little firework show in our driveway. They boys loved it. They were so cute. They were also drenched as evidenced in Jackson's wet hair above. After our show we went to the River to see the Big fireworks the city puts on. I have to tell you, this is the place to be on the 4th if you love fireworks. Nothing is illegal, so you sit on the River and watch all the crazy fireworks go off all around you, and just when you think you have seen the show, the real fireworks start. They are beautiful and the reflection on the
river makes it even more amazing.
