Alaska-some of the fun stuff

The day after Prince William Sound, Mitch ran Six Mile. So, me and the boys went on an adventure of our own.   We went with Amy and her little Ben for a hike around Portage glacier and saw salmon swimming upstream.  We also tried fishing on our own.  We didn't catch anything and Jackson was not happy about that.

We also panned for gold. Yes, we found some, a few little, tiny flecks of gold, but GOLD none-the-less. I love how my boys think everything is treasure.  The gold mining place gives you a tube to put all the gold that you find, but my boys filled it with any rock they thought was cool. So I have a little tube of rocks and a little bit of gold, oh, and there is a garnet in there that I found, which is cool since that is Asher's birth stone.

The place where we panned for gold had a great money maker (for them.) You pay for bird feed and you get to go and feed their birds. That's right you pay to do their chores, genius!

We saw Beluga whales swimming in the Turnagain Arm.

We hung out at Jake and Amy's house that evening. They have the coolest house with a rope swing and a zip line, and beautiful views of Anchorage and Mt. McKinley.  We also ate the most amazing food.  Moose burgers, pizza cooked over their fireplace, and gourmet cheeses.  Those Maloufs know how to do food!

AMAZING! Not much more you can say. Henry would have loved panning for gold and found some extra treasures as well. What a fun experience for your family.
